Monday we had a great time in music, gym stations with our friends from the red group and sewing our moccasins in the afternoon. Thanks to the wonderful helpers who joined us for sewing. We were busy sewing the sides of the moccasins and beginning to sew the toe part. We started talking about what is motion, how things move/roll/slide and we did some predicting for how objects might move down a ramp, we tried out our predictions and were super excited when things rolled 'vite' (quickly).
Yesterday, we had our first special visit from Baby Adelyn, our Roots of Empathy baby. We learned about the different things Baby Adelyn can do. She is only just three months old, so many things are brand new to her. We were surprised that she cannot walk or talk yet, but we learned that she communicates with her face and through sounds. We estimated and compared our predictions about Baby Adelyn's length. We used blocks to measure her, she was longer than we had thought! This was a special afternoon, we all did such a wonderful job of siting, observing and smiling with Baby Adelyn.
This morning we did some sponge painting as a beginning of our 'coquelicot' project (poppy) that will be displayed on our hallway bulletin board by the end of this week. We also had music time with Ms. Shum. This afternoon we will be exploring more about how things move, we will be each working to move a specific item and discussing the difference between rolling and moving with a force down a ramp.
