Happy March everyone! March!? Time is flying! We had a lovely day today. We started off with morning exploration, lots of playing, building, writing, painting.... After outdoor recess, we came in for Brain Gym, Morning Message and Calendar. Instead of going to the gym today, we went on a walk to a forest park near by. The level of play was fantastic! No toys, no playground structure, just our friends, the woods and our imaginations! My favourite time was seeing them run around in excitement for the first five minutes beaming with huge smiles. Lots of neat treasures were found, we decided on bringing home one item (max) each, so that nature is still left for others to enjoy. After lunch, we had show and tell and a visit from Paul et Suzanne. Paul et Suzanne have been asking us oral French questions. Today's question was about where everyone went over the weekend. We then had literacy choice time. We then looked at our potato bulbs. We did a brainstorm about what we know about potatoes, and we estimated how many potatoes will grow from each bulb. We then went outside and sat in the sun and did observational drawings of the bulbs, and practiced writing 'les pommes de terre'. We also drew the potato bulbs with chalk on the pavement. We came in and planted the bulbs in a big tub in the classroom. We will be doing lots of observations on the potato plants. They begin inside for a few weeks, and once we start to see green leafs coming up, we will then find the right time to move them out in to the court yard.
