We started off our day with morning exploration time. We had a new center set up today, play dough numbers! Very exciting. Children were invited to come to the table to create numbers using Halloween themed play dough! After, we had our welcome song and daily check in. We practiced our Halloween poem as well about little pumpkins. After snack and outdoor play, we came in for Brain Gym and our Calendar routine. We then read our mini Halloween books and added two more pages to finish them off! We added un fantome et un chat noir (ghost and black cat). We then went to the gym for some movement games and we set up some primary stations. The stations were Balancing, weaving through cones, jumping in to hoops, rolling a ball with a partner and going on a scooter using our hands to push us. After lunch and outdoor play, we had a visit from Paul et Suzanne. We then took part in 'DROP EVERYTHING AND READ', all George Jay children formed a reading train from one end of the school hallway to the other end. They were paired with a grade four or five student to buddy read for about twenty minutes. This was a lot of fun! We ended the day with outdoor play, but not at the playground... Today we tried something new. We went to the far end of the play field to the small trees and just played. Lots of imaginative play took place, which was my goal. Some were playing and creating with sticks, others were building mini houses under trees, and some were finding giant sticks to measure and compare lengths! Very neat!
