Wow, November is here! We started this morning with free play exploration time. Lots of us talked and learned about snakes. Some of us were using books to learn and write with, others were drawing and painting where they think snakes might live. Some of us were playing with our tree blocks and building houses for snakes. This was wonderful to see! We will be doing an inquiry project about snakes for the month of November. We then had our welcome song and a daily check in. After snack and outdoor play time, we came in for calendar and brain gym. We switched our calendar and talked about our upcoming month. We learned a new poem, using the 'Ssss' sound and it is about snakes. We then went to the gym with our friends from Mrs. Gronotte's class. We did some movement activities and then played a few cooperative team games. After lunch and outdoor play, we came in for Montre et Racontre. We then went to a school assembly, it was a SOAR presentation. SOAR stands for Safe, Organized, Accountable and Responsible or Respectful. Students were recognized for these areas, a few from each class. This was our first time, so we did not have anyone recognized in Kindergarten... but we will next time! It was lovely to hear about what other children in our school are working on and accomplishing. We came back for our choice literacy relax time. Some of us were drawing and lots of us were reading today. We then looked at some of the illustrations of where some of our friends think snakes live! Some of us think in the jungle, the desert, the forest, California, Scotland, near our houses even! We then had free exploration time. Some of us chose to work in the snake discovery area, others in the snake building habitats area and others drew more about where we think snakes may live.
