Welcome back to everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your holidays and were healthy creating memories with you children. We spent the first part of our morning sharing stories, talking about activities and presents and playing. We then had our welcome song. After snack and indoor recess (yoga break), we did Brain Gym and Calendar. We then did some singing and letter rhymes. We did a brainstorm about what we know about Snowflakes, we had a lot of facts and ideas about what we know about snowflakes. The question then came up about how are snowflakes made? Lots of our friends thought they came from the sky, from clouds that were filled with water. Then the water came as rain, and got cold and turned to snow. These children are amazing! I then asked, how does the water get up to the clouds....we had MANY different ideas. I asked them to draw me how they thought water got back up to the clouds. Here are some of our ideas: buckets on a system, tubes that come down and suck up the water (very popular), that water can fly, wind blows water up to the clouds, water is magic... and the list goes on. We headed to the gym for some stations working on balance, movement, aim and catching. We also played a couple of cooperative team games. After lunch and indoor recess, we had a Pat le Chat story and literacy choice time. We then learned how to draw a snowflake, and talked about how they are similar to patterns. We did an art crayon resist, painting snowflake activity and finished our day with exploration play time.
