We are on our way to learning our routines. We started off our day with exploration time. We each practiced writing our names with Mme Rebecca during this time. We then had snack and recess time. We came in for Brain Gym movements and a story. We then went to our first Music Class in the music room with Ms. Shum. This was very exciting. Next, we returned to class and talked about what it means to be kind to others. We watched a quick video clip about how acts of kindness can make others feel happy. We then brainstormed different acts of kindness we can do around our classroom and in our lives to help others feel happy and loved. We shared many great ideas.

After lunch and outdoor playtime, we came in for Paul et Suzanne. We were quickly interrupted with a fire alarm and a quick exit to the field. We agreed after that the alarm is a very loud piercing sound, and it is best to cover our ears while lining up and quickly exiting the building. This was a great practice, but unfortunately it was not scheduled. A student (not from our class) pulled the alarm alarm. We talked about the seriousness of a fire drill and what our jobs are whilst exiting the building. Everyone was a bit nervous, but did a great job! I was so impressed. We even found a few Fire fighter books around the classroom. We have so many ideas, questions and thoughts about fires, fire fighters, fire trucks, fire stations. We will be talking some more about this tomorrow...this might be our first topic of inquiry and learning this school year! We shall see where our questions, wonders and thoughts take us. We then finished off Paul et Suzanne and had our quiet time. We continued to have exploration playtime, some of us started on Sharpie self-portraits to decorate our classroom walls.
*BBQ forms came home today. Please return to classroom or office asap.
