We have had a fabulous last week at school working on our George Jay Inquiry Project. Last Friday we were fortunate to have Cruz's father come in to talk to us about his construction job. The children were fascinated with his safety gear, tool belt and stories of sky high buildings, houses and much more. They had an endless supply of questions. Merci! We then had Christian's parents come and talk to us about roofing. Christian's father did a roofing demonstration right here in the classroom and shingled a mini roof for us. This was very exciting, merci! Next, we had Amelia and Alyse's mother come and do an interior design activity. Ann brought samples on samples on samples for floors, tiles, fabric and wallpaper. The children were challenged to think of something they would like to design. Some chose ballrooms, pools, jails, houses and the list goes on. They then had to pick out tiles, fabric, floors, etc. to go in their room and draw a design plan. We made them each a design folder with their samples and plans. Wow! Merci!
Our inquiry focus groups have been very busy this week as well. Posters, displays, stop motion videos, adobe voice videos that explain their learning process and art pieces have been created. These children are so engaged in their learning it is incredible! They have decided to have a learning exhibit similar to a market where they get to run their table and share about their learning. Wow!
Yesterday, we went on a beautiful flower and shape walk around the community. We searched for different types of flowers, colours and trees. We also looked for shapes on houses to tie in with our building portion of our inquiry project.
